CROE: i think that would sink like a stone
“draw me a sea horse”
the artist went…
and this is what she came up with
the surface of the water is really pretty
nice lighting effects
CROE: the horse’s eye is kinda freaky
TARBOT: a little bit
like a wraith
maybe if the tail was longer, stronger… the horse would stand a chance of swimming
it just looks very unbalanced
maybe he could wear flippers on his front legs
and how’s he breathing, exactly?
CROE: he doesn’t need to. he’s a wraith
or do wraiths need oxygen? i don’t know much about the anatomy of wraiths
was not covered in my biology classes
what’s with artists and their fascination of combining animals?
CROE: i dunno…maybe they run out of ideas and need themes
i guess it goes back to the greek myths
CROE: they got very specific
Chimera, a three headed monster, with the foreparts of a lion, the hind-parts of a goat and goat’s-head rising from its back, and the tail of a headed-serpent
maybe it allows you to show your best side
i love drawing the paws of a lion, but man, that lion’s tail is hard
TARBOT: it sounds like recipes
CROE: i know, i’ll use a goat’s butt – those are great
but the tail, i need something else – i know, a serpent!
TARBOT: one blank canvas, two cups blue paint, three parts imagination and voila! you got yourself an ocean horse
CROE: this one looks like colored pencil actually
TARBOT: *two blue colored pencils
CROE: any info about the artist?
CROE: so maybe it was high school art class?
i like the wolf!
Favourite game: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time
that was a good game!
Favourite movie: Finding Nemo, How to Train your Dragon, Tangled
somehow, i always had the impression that deviantart would be more … deviant?
TARBOT: depends on how you define deviant
and what the norm is that you’re looking at when comparing
ok, so she studies pathology
and the artist mentions in the description that it’s a hippocampus
which is a section of the brain, named after a sea horse, because it is shaped like one
Latin: hippocampus (from Greek: ἵππος, “horse” and Greek: κάμπος, “sea monster”)
so i guess if she studies biology, she probably knows more about wraith’s respiration than i do
TARBOT: mmm, quite probably
